The application of spacing column in spiral plate heat exchanger is, simply speaking,  refers to the small cylinder or cuboid welded on the spiral plate. The function of spacing column in spiral plate heat exchanger is to keep the spacing of the spiral plate to one. At this time, the rigidity, stability and strength of the spiral plate can be improved.

If the pressure is small, the spacing can be larger, whereas if the pressure is large, the spacing can be smaller. Commonly used spacing specifications are, 100*200, 150*150, 100*100 and 80*80. The spacing column itself is usually a cylinder of the same diameter and height, and the spacing column on a spiral plate is of the same specification. The line position deviation of the spacing column is ±2.0mm, so the spacing between the center of the spacing column and the edge of the plate weld has to be less than 20mm.
The connection between the spaced column and the helical plate in the helical plate heat exchanger equipment shall be two point symmetric spot welding (two point spot welding along the helical plate length or width). However, the phenomena caused by the spot welding such as edge bite, weak spot welding and burning through steel plate are still the main reasons for the leakage in the screw body. Therefore, attention should be paid to the arc starting or arc closing during the spot welding of the distance fixed column. Attention should be paid to the circumferential operation of the distance fixed column.
